Full Ideal Reader Profile

For this task we had to create the perfect ideal reader for our magazine. DoYa is targeted at teenage girls from 12-17 so my ideal reader will be along those lines.

My Ideal Reader is a girl called Lucy Croksley she is 14 and attends a state school called Oakwood in Watford.

Here is a picture of her:

Lucy is a bubbly, confident and
popular teenager. She has a buzzing social life and is always out with her friends or off to a party. She lives at home with her mum, dad, younger brother and dog Sparkie a collie cross. Her mum and dad have been married for 17 years.

This is a picture of her family:

The mum is a learning support assistant in a primary school near her house her dad owns his own company, installing computers in businesses and schools in the surrounding counties from where she lives. The Croksley family live comfortably in a 4 bedroom house with a massive garden here is a
picture of their house:

Here is Lucy's Bedroom:

Lucy is animal crazy and has a part time job working at a kennels that a family friend owns she walks and cleans out after the dogs. She gets £10 for the 4 hours a week she does. On her way home she goes into her local newsagents and buys a copy of  DoYa and some sweets for the walk home.
Another of Lucy's passions is fashion she likes to look good and with the money she has left over after buying that weeks DoYa edition she saves for when she goes out shopping for new clothes when she goes out with her friends. She is also always scanning DoYa for latest deals and hottest looks. Here is a list of the last 10 items Lucy brought;
  1. DoYa
  2. Packet of skittles
  3. Ear Cuff (as seen in DoYa)
  4. High Waisted Shorts
  5. Denim Skater Skirt
  6. McDonalds (6 cik-nugs, chips, milkshake)
  7. Costa (hot chocolate)
  8. Good boy dog treats
  9. Maddi Clarke's album
  10. a pair of Neptoons FlipFlops

Lucy LOVES music, she carried around her iphone and her ipod classic because her iphone doesn't have to memory to hold all 4,756 songs. She always orders albums before they come out to make sure she is the 1st to get her hands on them. Lucy is always keeping up to date with all her favorite celebrities and is always going off to concerts to see different artists and bands.
She has her heart set that she is going to meet Justin Beiber and they are going to get married, she is fully aware the chances of this are very slight but that is always her birthday wish as she blows out her candles.

What I Have Learnt About The Use Of Technologies & How Have I Used Them

What Kind Of Media Institution Might Distribute My Product & Why?

I am going to use Bauer Media to publish my magazine because they publish some very popular regular magazines such as heat, the sort of magazine I would hope mine would be. They distribute magazines nationally and I think that gives me a enough broad market to sell my magazine and make a decent profit.
Bauer Media make a lot of magazines that go straight to peoples house and get paid for by direct debit. I don't want my magazine to be like that I want my magazine to be in store so people who may not normally by one may buy it on the off chance they like it. This leading to increasing my market ad profit.
I didn't pick Future Publishing because looking at magazines they publish they mainly publish specialist magazines normally focusing on computing and such like. They don't publish anything similar to my magazine that is why I will not be going with them.
That is the same with BBC although they publish top of the pops my main competitor in this section of the industry they are more focused on things that relate and promote the BBC brand and my magazine has no mentioning of anything that could relate to that.
Similarly
Conde Nast publish quite up market magazines that are normally ones off, monthly or seasonally. Most of them are expensive costing around 4 pound plus per issue. All of this is nothing like my magazine or what it says in my publication plan.
I have looked at other companies but I still think Bauer Media is the best for '
DoYa'.
