Full Ideal Reader Profile
For this task we had to create the perfect ideal reader for our magazine. DoYa is targeted at teenage girls from 12-17 so my ideal reader will be along those lines.
My Ideal Reader is a girl called Lucy Croksley she is 14 and attends a state school called Oakwood in Watford.
Here is a picture of her:
Lucy is a bubbly, confident and
popular teenager. She has a buzzing social life and is always out with her friends or off to a party. She lives at home with her mum, dad, younger brother and dog Sparkie a collie cross. Her mum and dad have been married for 17 years.
This is a picture of her family:
The mum is a learning support assistant in a primary school near her house her dad owns his own company, installing computers in businesses and schools in the surrounding counties from where she lives. The Croksley family live comfortably in a 4 bedroom house with a massive garden here is a
picture of their house:
Here is Lucy's Bedroom:
Lucy is animal crazy and has a part time job working at a kennels that a family friend owns she walks and cleans out after the dogs. She gets £10 for the 4 hours a week she does. On her way home she goes into her local newsagents and buys a copy of DoYa and some sweets for the walk home.
Another of Lucy's passions is fashion she likes to look good and with the money she has left over after buying that weeks DoYa edition she saves for when she goes out shopping for new clothes when she goes out with her friends. She is also always scanning DoYa for latest deals and hottest looks. Here is a list of the last 10 items Lucy brought;
- DoYa
- Packet of skittles
- Ear Cuff (as seen in DoYa)
- High Waisted Shorts
- Denim Skater Skirt
- McDonalds (6 cik-nugs, chips, milkshake)
- Costa (hot chocolate)
- Good boy dog treats
- Maddi Clarke's album
- a pair of Neptoons FlipFlops
Lucy LOVES music, she carried around her iphone and her ipod classic because her iphone doesn't have to memory to hold all 4,756 songs. She always orders albums before they come out to make sure she is the 1st to get her hands on them. Lucy is always keeping up to date with all her favorite celebrities and is always going off to concerts to see different artists and bands.
She has her heart set that she is going to meet Justin Beiber and they are going to get married, she is fully aware the chances of this are very slight but that is always her birthday wish as she blows out her candles.

What Kind Of Media Institution Might Distribute My Product & Why?
I
am going to use Bauer Media to publish my magazine because they publish some
very popular regular magazines such as heat, the sort of magazine I would
hope mine would be. They distribute magazines nationally and I think that
gives me a enough broad market to sell my magazine and make a decent
profit.
Bauer Media make a lot of magazines that go straight to peoples house and get paid for by direct debit. I don't want my magazine to be like that I want my magazine to be in store so people who may not normally by one may buy it on the off chance they like it. This leading to increasing my market ad profit.
I didn't pick Future Publishing because looking at magazines they publish they mainly publish specialist magazines normally focusing on computing and such like. They don't publish anything similar to my magazine that is why I will not be going with them.
That is the same with BBC although they publish top of the pops my main competitor in this section of the industry they are more focused on things that relate and promote the BBC brand and my magazine has no mentioning of anything that could relate to that.
Similarly Conde Nast publish quite up market magazines that are normally ones off, monthly or seasonally. Most of them are expensive costing around 4 pound plus per issue. All of this is nothing like my magazine or what it says in my publication plan.
I have looked at other companies but I still think Bauer Media is the best for 'DoYa'.

More Changes
I have made the most changes to my contents page, I have virtually redone it.
I thought the numbers where hard to link to the articles so I have changed that so it now reads 'page 16' rather than just '16'. I have added two more articles and more into 'regulars' so my magazine looks more full to the brim. I made all the logos myself from photos I have using for my photography Alevel course. I made the lightning bold on PowerPoint same as the wedge logo I made it from the basic shape drawing tool.
As well as this I have made another logo for my fake 'Tori-Jay' company because the one I had before was a bit blury. I edited this one on Photoshop by changing the complete style of Maddi's hair and the colours so it is hardly noticeable it is her.

Changes To Front Cover
I made some changes to my front cover but there was error in printing it so i will update my blog with a picture of that next week.
Changes That I Have Made
Since watching the videos and reading my feedback i have made final changes and I am happy that all changes that i thought needed making have been made.
Contents Page;
I haven't made many drastic changes to the contents page I have just rewritten the editor's letter fixed grammatical and spelling errors and repositioned it and changed the colour to fit the colour scheme.
Double Page Spread (page 1):
I also rewrote the introduction to my interview and changed the colour of the 'ultimate diva Maddi Clarke' I also took the picture from the bottom left and repositioned it on the other page o think it is better this way round as it makes the text easier to look at and less like a story and more like and interview. Only thing I am not happy with is the fact that the green and orange are a bit of block colour not a 'glow' but i think this is down to the printing and scanning process.
Double Page Spread (page 2):
I made some major changes on this page. I put the interview into coloums I think this way it looks better and easier to read. Also with a few pictures i think it looks more authentic. Also by putting a pull quote at the top, adds intrest and makes the reader want to read full article. Also I changed, as I said I would, the title of this I think it is bettter in these colours.

Assesment Of Second Draft
I got 2s 'in awareness of text variety' and 'accuratly using language to regester'.
I am going to retype the article to make it look less like a story and put it into columns so i can incorporate more appropriate language.
I said that I am going to change the header on the top of the second page of my double page spread.

What have I learnt so far
I am really enjoying my media course, I think the whole subject has taught me the importance of planning and designing. I am more aware of faults in my own work now and less afraid to point them out.
Learning to use programs like inDesign and Photoshop have been a real eye opener because I need a boost in my ICT skills to get on to what I want to do after education.
I am also studying photography and so using Photoshop there too has meant that it is easier for me to apply knowledge across subjects, even with software clashes.

Check List Of Things That Need To Be Changed Before I Hand In Second Draft
- fill space on front cover
- Add 'I' infront of know on editors letter to read 'I Know'
- New picture of emma
- another tori jay logo for the front
- edit maddi's caption on the contents page- dont make too much sense at the moment
- get some pictures of maddi to put on double page spread.
